30 Day About Me Challenge: Day 07
30 Day About Me Challenge: Day 07 – Tattoo’s and Piercings: This should be an easy one since I have a few tattoo’s.
My first tattoo was not something I put much thought into. I got it not long after returning home from 3 months in Italy after a terrible 2010. For some time I knew I wanted a tattoo but I didn’t know what I wanted. I went with the typical first tattoo idea of a nickname. So the artist gave me his folder with all his fonts in and I opted for a tribal type font. two hours later my nickname “Moose” was forever inked onto the back of my left leg. It may look familiar as since having it I started using this font on my blogs and site.
My next tattoo was to celebrate my love of gaming. In particular my love for a certain game. I play a lot of Assassins Creed and loved the few games with Ezio Auditore Da Firenze in. As his series was set in old renaissance Italy there was some amazing patterns and architecture in the games, The creed logo had some amazing designs. When I saw a certain design fell in love and started using as my wallpaper on various things and wanted to get it inked on me, I opted for a tramp stamp. Working in retail at the time so wanted to keep it covered so as not to give the wrong impression to customers. I booked in and two hours later it was finished. The downside was I went straight to work afterwards!
Tattoos Three and Four
My next one was to sadly be a memorial tattoo. During that horrible time with my ex I crossed paths with a woman on World of Warcraft called Anne. I spent a lot of time on this game and in her guild and throughout many conversations she helped me see I was in a mentally controlling and abusive relationship. Anne helped get me out of that relationship and helped to rebuild me when everything fell apart. We met up numerous times for coffee became great friends. However Anne had numerous battles with cancer and eventually she was taken from us and I wanted to remember her always. I went to the tattoo shop with my design of our guild crest from WoW. This way I will always remember our times and there will always be a part of her with me.
The next tattoo was again another gaming one. A couple of months into my relationship with Michelle we were often out Pokémon hunting on Pokémon Go. We both had a geeky love for the game and we got matching tattoo’s of poke-balls. Michelle kept joking that every year we would add another poke-ball to it and eventually end up with a collection, I have a feeling this will actually happen.
Current Work in Progress
My current work in progress is an idea taken from a game called Diablo. Diablo is a game my Stepdad john would play for hours, especially during his final days. John passed away a few years ago and he loved the detail people could get in tattoos so I wanted something special. This piece is huge and takes up the majority of my back. It is also that big I have currently had 4 sessions and need to book in for more. I took a picture of a character from the game and had it inked on me, I think it is Tyrael and he was an angel of justice. Here is the current progress piece, each session took about two hours.
